Summer Staff

2024 Summer Ministry Team Information

Every summer, Greenview relies upon over 50 young adults from colleges and high schools around the county. There’s a variety of jobs to do, from counseling to working in the kitchen, and the Lord has always provided the necessary people for the job.

You will have the opportunity to spend your summer having fun, with the campers and other staff, while making an impact in the lives of the young people attending. You will get to see the growth in the campers and in yourself. The friendships that form during camp last well after the week of camp ends. If you haven’t ever served at a camp ministry before, I would encourage you to give of your summer and make some memories that you won’t soon forget!

We are looking for motivated, caring, and skilled individuals that have a heart for Christ, to join the summer ministry team at Greenview. Individuals must be a committed Christian, active in his or her church, learning and growing in their faith, and be in agreement with our mission and statement of faith. Both of which are included in the staff application.

General Qualifications for all Summer Ministry Team Members

  • A personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a strong desire to serve God through serving others.
  • A willingness to be flexible and work hard.
  • A willingness to be accountable to others and live by the guidelines that are established for your daily work, group living, and personal conduct.
  • A passion for making a difference in the lives of those around you.

Positions to Serve

It is the goal of leadership to provide discipleship to all of our staff and volunteers, so that they can disciple campers in return. Camp would not be possible without our summer staff and weekly volunteers. Everyone has a variety of roles each week, with the most important one being that you are representing Jesus to the campers that come. You might be the only glimpse of Christ that they will get, so we are looking for dedicated Christians who truly desire to share their faith with others as the serve along fellow believers.

A great thing about serving at camp is that there is a wide variety of positions and roles that need to be filled each week. Attached to this letter is a list of the positions for this summer and a brief overview of the job description.

Positions are divided into several categories: program staff, counselors, activity directors and supervisors, activity assistants, volunteer assistants, and other support roles.

Weekly Attendance and Absences

Each session of camp has a specified arrival and departure time. All overnight staff members are expected to remain on site or with the group throughout the week. To leave camp during the session you will need (parental if you are under 18) permission in advance from the Director. Exceptions will be made only for emergencies.

Some positions could allow you to commute and be able to leave in the evenings. There would be a set time in which you would be required to be at camp, and a time you would be free to leave.

Types of Staff

SWAT: Our staff-in-training program for over 20 years, this program gives biblical and practical instruction for how to serve in a camp setting. Designed as a bridge between campers and staff, graduating 9th graders will be able to attend a week of training before being able to serve in a support role in one of the following day camps.

Volunteers: We would not be able to survive in ministry without the growing number of volunteers that we have each year. Volunteers fill counselor roles, activity supervisors, kitchen help, maintenance, and everything else in between. Whether it’s weeklong or once for just a few hours, we can find a place for you to come and serve.

Paid Summer Staff: We have a variety of paid summer positions that we are looking to fill every summer. Most of our paid positions come with increased responsibilities and will not be awarded on a first come basis but based off our review and fit for the ministry. To be considered for a paid staff position, you must meet the following requirements:

  • You must be available for at least 4 weeks of the summer (we have 7 in total).
  • You must have completed 11th grade and have volunteered at Greenview previously.
  • You must be able to attend our summer staff training on May 26th-28

Unsure if you can commit to the entire summer? No problem! Unlike some camps, you wouldn’t need to make a summer-long commitment. Whether you are looking for a summer long job, work a couple of weeks, or volunteer for a week, let us know and we can find a spot for you to serve.

The importance of missions…

It’s easy to find ourselves viewing working at camp over the summer as just another job, but it should be much more than that. At its core, camp is a mission field, and our mission is to reach these kids with good news of the Gospel. And as such the workers should see themselves as missionaries furthering the Lord’s work right here in Lancaster County.

All staff and volunteers will be able (and strongly encouraged) to send out support letters. Not only will this be a great way to gain prayer support, but you will also be able to raise financial support for yourself.

We will still be hiring summer staff and paying them, but this will provide an incentive for those to raise additional support on top of what your camp wages are throughout the summer. Our summer staff pay scale includes a weekly wage as well as covered meals and lodging throughout the week. You also have a unique opportunity for friends, neighbors, and family to invest in the ministry you will be doing here at Greenview.

You will have the opportunity to raise funds up until the start of the summer from your community that will be evenly distributed across the number of weeks you are serving. You will receive more information about how that will work closer to the summer. Please do not send out support letters until instructed to do so.
